Quality & compliance
GMN quality assurance
We’re proud of our reputation as one of the finest “one-call, one-stop” designers and manufacturers of brand identity and electronic user interface products. We take your trust seriously, employing proven quality management principles to enhance customer satisfaction and continually improve our performance and capabilities. We have decades of experience meeting the stringent regulations and certifications for the automotive, aerospace and medical device industries, which serve as benchmarks for all of the products we manufacture.
Quality system certifications
All GMN facilities are certified to operate under the guidance of various international standards for quality management systems based on their respective customer requirements and products. Conformance to these standards ensures that GMN maintains the highest level of product quality and process control in their manufacturing facilities. In addition, many GMN label constructions are listed with Underwriters Laboratories as well as tested and approved to the Canadian Standard.
GMN quality philosophy
GMN’s commitment to the prosperity of our customers, fellow employees and our community requires that all employees meet or exceed customer quality expectations. All associates are trained to be involved and effective employees with the individual responsibility to continually improve processes and assist in resolving any issues that may compromise the quality of our products and services.
All GMN facilities operate under lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to increase efficiencies and reduce costs while maintaining the highest level of quality. Lean methods include improving workplace organization, reducing set-up times, streamlining process flows, continuous employee training, and more. Through lean, we’ve streamlined processes to ensure our clients receive the best prices, products and services in the industry.
Environment and compliance
We all own the responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for future generations. At GMN, environmental stewardship is a top priority at all seven of our facilities and in three countries around the world. As responsible corporate citizens, we are committed to meeting or exceeding compliance with all national and international environmental legislation and regulations.
Pollution prevention plan
GMN has been recognized by government agencies as a leader in our industry for our commitment to manufacturing in a clean and safe environment. Our proactive Pollution Prevention Plan, updated annually, provides a framework for setting and reviewing environmental goals and targets and for eliminating harmful materials use and manufacturing processes within our operations and the operations of our suppliers.
DRC conflict free
GMN supports worldwide concerns that metals mined in conflict areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) may be making their way into the electronics supply chain. GMN policy requires our supply chain partners to certify in writing that they do not knowingly procure gold, columbite-tantalum, wolframite or cassiterite from conflict areas of the DRC. We continually survey our supply chain regarding sourcing and procurement of gold, columbite-tantalum, wolframite and cassiterite as well with their derivatives tin, tungsten and tantalum.
Due to traceability issues and the lack of mines or smelters effectively participating in the regulation, GMN cannot certify with absolute certainty that our supply chain is Conflict Free until supply chain transparency is more discernible. We are committed to supporting our customers’ requirements with reference to the Conflict Mineral Law and all other programs concerned with protecting both users of our products and the environment.
When the European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) went into effect in 2006, the majority of raw materials used in the production of GMN products were already in compliance. We continue to survey our supply chain to ensure compliance by identifying and testing alternate materials, including lead-free solder for use in electronic assemblies and replacement inks for those identified as containing restricted substances.
GMN supports our customers’ compliance with the European Union chemicals policy, REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals), and all other programs to protect both users of our products and the environment. We continue to work closely with the American Electronics Association (AEA), the Screen Printing and Graphics Imaging Association (SGIA) and other industry groups to stay informed of changes and updates to RoHS and REACH requirements.
We strive to not only make the best products and provide excellent customer service, but also to take responsibility as a corporate citizen for a better society. As part of this effort we are a member of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), an organization of the world’s leading electronics companies that operate under a code of high level standards regarding working conditions, ethics of business and social and environmental sustainability.
